Tom Dunn, Documentation Chair
Tom has a degree in technical theatre and worked in the business for 20 years opening 2 new theaters while designing and building many productions. He then switched to IT ultimately retiring from IBM. Since moving to VT in 1986 he has designed both lighting and sets for many community theatre productions. His first Lyric production was Annie in 1988. His main interest lately is improving on the pre-visualization of productions using 3D models and engineering projections for shows with an occasional lighting design thrown in. Tom’s real passion is sailing and his granddaughter.
Christine Everitt, membership chair
Christine is thrilled to be on the Board of Directors at Lyric Theatre Company. After moving to Vermont in 2008, she attended her first ever Lyric production of Oliver! in 2013 followed by Les Miserables in 2014. At that moment, she was hooked. While she never had the courage to audition herself, her daughter Harley has taken the reins for her. It’s safe to say, the Everitt family found a home. Christine graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Elementary Education followed by a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Teacher from Columbia University, Teachers College. Having spent 17 years in the classroom teaching in Philadelphia, New York City and Vermont, Christine has recently shifted from full time teaching to substitute teaching and math coaching. She is familiar with many of the local schools and sees theater as an extraordinary way for children to access their creativity, vulnerability and joy. Christine also serves on the Education Committee and always appreciates being in a room with passionate educators and theater lovers!

Outside of Lyric, Kyla has been involved with Neat with a Twist, Ballet Vermont, Island Stage, and Williston Community Theater. In 2024 Kyla founded Cat Call Dance Company with her friend Ellie Wallace to provide high quality dance performance opportunities to the arts community. Kyla has a background in marketing, project management, classroom education, and arts education. Kyla lives in Colchester with her wife and their pets. In what little free time there is left, Kyla enjoys painting and travels whenever she can.

Kit Meyers, community, advocacy & engagement chair
Kit has been an active member of Lyric Theatre since 2016, contributing to numerous behind-the-scenes crews in roles such as Assistant Lighting Designer, Assistant Stage Manager, and Stage Manager, among others. In recent years, Kit has also found their way onto the stage, performing in two main stage productions as well as a Theatre for Young Audiences show. Kit is excited to join the board, eager to deepen their understanding of the organization and help grow the vibrant Lyric community.
Vonnie Murad, education chair
Vonnie Murad serves as Chair for the Education Committee. Reaching and teaching people through theater—as a performer, assistant director, and dance captain for national and international tours of Broadway musicals—was her métier. Twenty years ago, she put her vocational goals on hold to begin a family. In the process, she took a job as a project manager with Senator Hillary Clinton, organizing job fairs and conferences in upstate New York. Later she worked at an investment banking firm, until she went into labor on the Chairman’s office sofa. Since then, she’s managed two kids and a household instead of projects and VIPs. She moved to Vermont and works as a sugar cookie artist at Klinger’s Bakery.

Karen Sheedy, member at large
Karen graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a degree in Accounting. She then earned a Masters of Taxation from Bentley College. Karen joined JMM & Associates in 1987, and became a shareholder in 2014 with taxation as her primary focus. She has extensive experience working with individuals and small businesses. Karen’s expertise also includes trust and estate taxation. Karen has previously served two terms on the Lyric Board and in the role of Treasurer. She has also been involved with other nonprofits in leadership roles. She and her dog, Bailey, are a certified Therapy Dogs of Vermont team.

Doug Viehmann, Facilities chair
Douglas R. Viehmann, AIA, earned Architecture and Fine Arts degrees from Rhode Island School of Design. Before moving to Vermont in 1978 he was design partner of Conservative Builders, a residential design/build firm in Maine. He has served on the Board of Directors of Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity, as Commodore of the Board of Governors and Buildings and Grounds Chair for the Lake Champlain Yacht Club. He is active on many committees of First Congregational Church, Burlington. Doug believes that the use of local and natural materials will reduce the environmental cost of a project and keep construction dollars in local hands. From beginnings as a lowly props placer in Oklahoma! (1996?) Doug eventually graduated to set design starting with Guys and Dolls in 2006. After 10 sets, Titanic the Musical remains a high point for technical and emotional reasons. While practicing architecture in Vermont for over 30 years designing buildings that will (hopefully) be around for a long time, it is much more exhilarating to design theater sets which are here today and gone tomorrow; demolition is so cathartic!

Tomomi Ueda, member at large
“Love of art has been with me all my life, despite my chosen career in engineering. I caught the “theater bug” back in college when I was looking for an artistic outlet while slaving away in the engineering school. I loved being able to combine my engineering knowledge and art background to help create beautiful yet functional sets. The first thing I did after graduating and getting a job in Vermont was to look for a theater group where I could be a ‘techie.’ I haven’t looked back since joining Lyric in 1999!”
