Syndi Zook selected as new Executive Director of Lyric Theatre Company

January 2005: Before joining Lyric, Syndi worked in elder services in the Burlington community for over 23 years, including 18 years as Executive Director of the Champlain Senior Center. Syndi is a past president of the Vermont Association of Senior Center Directors and a two-term elected delegate to the National Institute of Senior Centers from the State.

Since 1989 Syndi, together with Marc Lachapelle, has been the Co-Owner and Director of The Open Stage, the children’s drama program of the Burlington Department of Parks and Recreation.  She has also traveled the world as the vocal coach and “etiquette” teacher for Folkids of Vermont, a non-profit musical preservation organization that shares New England traditional songs and dances throughout the country and around the world. Syndi is also a Vermont-licensed secondary school English teacher who taught for several years at Rice High School in South Burlington.

 

A 23-year member of Lyric Theatre Company, one of the largest community theatre groups in New England, Syndi was an Artistic Director for two of their shows and an actress in 13 shows. She has served two terms on the Lyric Board of Directors.

Syndi is currently on the Board of Directors for the Queen City Police Foundation and the Advisory Council to the Vermont Department of Health in the area of chronic disease prevention and control in the elderly population.
