Lyric Theatre Company is partnering with Feed Pets 2, a pet food drive organized by Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (CVAA) to benefit seniors and their pets.  CVAA oversees the Meals on Wheels programs in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.  Some seniors share their Meals on Wheels with their pets, which means that neither one is getting proper nutrition.  By providing pet food for pets in addition to providing meals for the seniors, CVAA hopes to make sure that both the senior and the pet eat better, are healthier, and live longer.  

During the run of Beauty and the Beast, people can drop off donations for Feed Pets 2 in the lobby of the Flynn Center.  Donations may be either dry or canned pet food.  More seniors have cats than have dogs, but both cat and dog food are welcome.  Monetary donations will also be accepted and used to purchase additional pet food.  Feed Pets 2 was first organized in December 2007, when CVAA collected and distributed over 2200 pounds of pet food.  CVAA is happy to have help from Lyric for this second collection, making it possible to provide more pet food to more seniors and their pets.
