December 2005:
Freda Tutt, Development Chair of Lyric's Board
of Directors, presented a check to the Champlain Senior Center
for $2,850 during the Center's Holiday Dinner on December 6,
2005. The fundraising effort occurred during the run of
Lyric's fall production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the
Way to the Forum." Generous donations from Milne
Travel, Limos For Less, and Carmine's in New York City made it
possible for a lucky winner to win "A Roman Holiday in the
Big Apple," which included a weekend for two in New York
City and tickets to the Tony award-winning show, "A Light
in the Piazza." Area businesses such as the Tuscan
Kitchen, Trattoria Delia, Three Tomatoes, L'Amante, and
Zachary's Family Fun Center donated several runner-up gift
certificates.
Lyric Theatre Company and its 900 members have
helped to raise money and goods for non-profit agencies in the
Greater Burlington area since their inception 32 years ago.
Recent examples of Lyric's ongoing efforts have
included prom dress donations to area teenagers in need during
the run of "Cinderella," car donations to the Good
News Garage during "Grease," a successful food drive
for The Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf during "Jesus
Christ Superstar" and a "Coats for Kids" campaign
with Child Care Resource during "Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat." A tie-in with the Children's
Literacy Foundation (CliF) is already well underway for Lyric's
spring 2006 production of "Seussical Tthe musical."
Lyric Theatre Company was established in 1974
